The Los Angeles Dodgers are trying to convince themselves and their fans that they are still in the playoff race in the National League.  They host the division leading San Diego Padres on Wednesday night but even if the Dodgers get the win in this game, they are realistically probably not a serious threat to make the playoffs.

SBG Global current line: Dodgers - 140, Total 7 Over -120

The Dodgers have really not shown they are a team to be reckoned with in the National League this season. Their pitching is below average and their hitting is nothing special. They could have trouble hitting the ball on Wednesday night against San Diego starter Wade LeBlanc. He is 5-9 on the season but his ERA is solid at 3.49. The problem for LeBlanc has been the long ball as he has given up 16 home runs this baseball betting season. He is 1-2 in his last three starts with a 4.42 ERA. He is 1-3 in his career against the Dodgers with a 4.91 ERA.

The Dodgers are expected to go with Vicente Padilla on Wednesday.  He is 4-3 on the season with a 3.47 ERA. He lasted just four innings last time out against the Padres. He is 2-1 the last ten years against San Diego with a 3.32 ERA.

San Diego continues to excel vs. the MLB betting odds this season. They are 9-1 in their last 10 finales of a three-game series. They are 4-1 in their last 5 road games vs. a right-handed starter. The Padres are 8-2 in their last 10 Wednesday games. They have struggled with LeBlanc on the mound lately though as they are 2-5 in LeBlanc’s last 7 starts. The Padres are 1-4 in LeBlanc’s last 5 starts vs. the Dodgers.

The Dodgers are 3-8 in their last 11 home games vs. a left-handed starter. The Dodgers are 5-2 in Padilla’s last 7 home starts.

Looking at the total, the Over is 5-1 in the Padres last 6 road games. The Over is 14-5 in the Padres last 19 games vs. a right-handed starter. The Under is 4-1 in LeBlanc’s last 5 starts overall. The Over is 11-5 in the last 16 meetings between the two teams in Los Angeles.
