Cubs vs. Indians World Series Game 1 Starting Pitcher for Chicago

John Lester is set to start for the Cubs.

ESPN.com was the first to announce Lester’s start.

Lester was a natural choice to start the Cubs' first World Series game in 71 years, given that he has allowed just two earned runs in 21 innings (0.86 ERA) this postseason and gave up just one earned run over 21 innings (0.43 ERA) in three previous World Series starts -- all games in which he picked up the win.

Cubs vs. Indians World Series Game 1 Starting Pitcher for Cleveland

Corey Kluber is set to start for the Indians Tuesday.

Following a short rest ahead of Game 4 versus the Blue Jays, Kluber gave up a solo homer to Josh Donaldson in the bottom of the third inning and an RBI single to Ezequiel Carrera in the bottom of the fourth.  He struck out seven but allowed four hits as well as two walks.

Head to Head History

The Cubs are 6-2 in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.

What’s at Stake

The Cubs are trying to win their first World Series since 1908. The Indians haven't won the title since 1948 but have appeared in a handful of World Series games since that time, as recently as 1997.
