LOS ANGELES DODGERS (93-72) at NEW YORK METS (92-73)

Sportsbook.ag Line: Los Angeles -160, New York +145, Total: 6.5

The Mets will be looking to advance to the National League Championship Series with a win over the Dodgers in New York on Tuesday.

The Dodgers stormed out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning of Game 3, but the Mets answered back with four runs in the bottom of the second. From there it was all Mets, and the team went on to score six more runs in the third and fourth innings. New York did not look back from there and ended up winning the game 13-7.

The starters in this pivotal Game 4 meeting will be LHP Clayton Kershaw (16-8, 2.18 ERA, 312 K) for the Dodgers and LHP Steven Matz (4-0, 2.27 ERA, 34 K) for the Mets. Los Angeles is 32-12 against the money line with an on base percentage of .310 or worse over its past 20 games on the year. New York, however, is 37-13 against the money line after two or more consecutive Overs this season and 10-1 against the money line after scoring 10 runs or more this season as well. T

he Dodgers will be at full strength coming into this one and the Mets will be without SS Ruben Tejada (Knee) and 3B Juan Uribe (Chest) for the remainder of the year.

The Dodgers had yet another solid regular season, but this team will not be satisfied unless it is crowned the World Series champion and that dream is in serious jeopardy now.

Los Angeles is one game away from elimination and that is why it will be sending Clayton Kershaw to the mound on short rest on Tuesday. Kershaw, however, has really struggled in the postseason in his career. Kershaw wasn’t awful against the Mets in Game 1, but he allowed three earned runs in six innings and he will need to work further into the game and allow less on Tuesday.

Offensively, the Dodgers will continue to rely on 3B Justin Turner (.294, 16 HR, 60 RBI) and 1B Adrian Gonzalez (.275, 28 HR, 90 RBI). Turner has gotten two hits in each of the three games these teams have played this series. He is really in a groove and must keep it up to help his team force a Game 5. Gonzalez is also hitting well this series, going 4-for-12 with a homer and four RBI.

Steven Matz will be starting for the Mets on Tuesday and it will be his first postseason appearance. Matz had a phenomenal rookie season and even dominated this Dodgers team in Los Angeles on Jul. 5. Matz pitched six innings in that game and struck out eight batters while allowing just two hits and no earned runs. He’ll be looking to blank the Dodgers again in Game 4.

As for the hitting for New York, this team is lucky to have OF Yoenis Cespedes (.291, 35 HR, 105 RBI) playing well again. Cespedes has homered in two straight games and will be looking to do it once again on Tuesday.

OF Curtis Granderson (.259, 26 HR, 70 RBI) is also as hot as could be right now, going 6-for-11 with two doubles and five RBI in this series. He had no problem getting hits off of Kershaw in Game 1 and could really set the tone for this team by getting a leadoff hit on Tuesday.
