SUNDAY’S PITCHING MATCHUP: Angels RH Matt Shoemaker (9-13, 3.91 ERA) vs. Mariners RH Hisashi Iwakuma (14-10, 4.01)

Shoemaker is 1-2 with a 5.82 ERA versus the Mariners in 2016.  Against the current Mariners roster, however, he has allowed a respectable 32 hits on 123 at bats but with six home runs.

Iwakuma is 8-4 with a 2.84 ERA in 17 appearances (16 starts) versus the Angels.  He has permitted 45 hits in 202 at bats versus the current Angels lineup with six homers.

Despite the success these two starting pitchers have had against the opposing club, six of the last ten games in this series have resulted in ten or more runs.

The Angels are 5-0 in their last 5 games vs. a right-handed starter and 6-1 in their last 7 overall while the Mariners are 1-6 in their last 7 overall.
