Remarkably there has only been one Super Bowl that went into overtime.   It's crazy to think this since both of this year's Championship games ended up in OT.

Until Super Bowl LI, no Super Bowl in history had gone into overtime, though there were a few that came close. That changed when the Patriots rallied to tie the Falcons at 28 in Super Bowl LI. The overtime period is a 15-minute session in which both teams get three timeouts each.
