"This year, he is retired," White said on the "My Mom's Basement" podcast. "He doesn't have a fight this year, and he won't have a fight this year. Conor McGregor will not fight in 2020. ... I guarantee he will not fight in 2020."

McGregor, considered the UFC's biggest star, had initially planned on taking part in at least three fights this year before Covid-19 and other obstacles got in the way.  He last fought in January, beating Donald Cerrone by TKO in just 40 seconds.

McGregor told ESPN's Ariel Helwani in June that nothing in the UFC really excited him, prompting a retirement tweet. This, however, would not be the first time McGregor went into "retirement".
