Tennessee Approves Online Sports Betting

Tennessee became one of around a dozen states to legalize sportsbook within its borders since the US Supreme Court ruled to allow sports betting nationwide.  Individual states, however, must still amend their own laws in most cases.  Some are unwilling to do so or there are conflicts, primarily with the powerful tribes, that are preventing this.

Tennessee will not offer retail sportsbooks.  It will only offer online/mobile sports wagering.

There are No Sportsbooks Near Nashville

Unlike Memphis, which has access to retail sportsbooks in Tunica, MS an hour away and a newly opened sportsbook in West Memphis, Arkansas, Nashville sits in the middle of the state and has no nearby sportsbooks.

Nashville Bets

From TheSpun: Tennessee hasn’t been relevant on a national level in several years, but the Volunteers’ fan base remains one of the most-passionate in the country. The Vols showed this off in crazy form during the Greg Schiano saga (something that has since been criticized by several members of the college football world), but the fan base did prove capable of seriously affecting a coaching search.

The Predators success a few years ago suddenly made Nashville relevant in the world of hockey, and there was a devoted fan base.  Nashville had sold out a club record 30 NHL games this season that season.

Nashville is listed among those teams in the top 10 heading into 2019-2020 with 20-1 odds of winning the Stanley Cup.

Sadly, the Titans fan base in the NFL is often ranked among the bottom of most polls.
