Will Sportsbooks Be Opening Up in the Chicago Area Any Time Soon?

The US Supreme Court has ruled that sports betting is now legal.  The next step is for individual states to amend their respective laws.  Once that occurs, sportsbooks will open in designated locations.  Some states will even permit online gambling originating from within its borders.

The state of Illinois has already taken that step and sports betting courtesy of in-state operators will be available perhaps as early as the 2020 Super Bowl, though more likely some time thereafter.  The good news is that sports betting will be available from kiosks at ball parks and sportsbooks from race tracks and casinos.  Mobile betting will be available statewide from these operators.

In order to place bets on Illinois college teams, one will have to place bets with an offshore sportsbooks.
