Where Can I Bet The Super Bowl Online From Florida?

Jazz Sports (established in 1994) is one of a handful of sports betting sites accessible to those living in the great state of Florida to place bets on this year's Super Bowl.   The site offers a generous welcome bonus (max bonus $1000) and will feature hundreds of prop bets on the big game.

No State-Based Sportsbooks Any Time Soon

While online sportsbooks are accessible from the state, these are all located outside of Florida.

Sportsbooks looking to set up shop within the Sunshine State will have to wait....and wait some time.  That's because of two unlikely bedfellows: Disney and the Seminole Nation.

In May 2018, the US Supreme Court ruled to allow sports betting across the nation provided individual states made such activity lawful.  Despite having a number of casino properties in the state, the Seminoles and Disney have joined forces to fight against gambling expansion.  The Seminoles wish to maintain their dominance in the Sunshine State whereas Disney would rather have no forms of gambling.

In November 2018, voters stripped the state Legislature's power to authorize most casino gambling via an Election Day amendment.  This all but ensures that sports betting businesses will not be permitted to obtain licensing and operate from within the state unless voters agree to it.

More importantly, even if this does come to fruition, the powerful Seminoles will have the upper hand.

The initiative only allows gambling expansion through a statewide initiative placed on the ballot by citizen petition. Exceptions were made for casinos on Indian reservations, for which the Seminoles are the dominant tribe.

Won't Stop Them From Trying

Last month, Sen. Jeff Brandes filed SB 392, authorizing sports betting in Florida regulated by the Florida Lottery. He also filed SB 394 and SB 396, setting the tax revenue at 15% and license fees at $100,000, respectively.

Because the measure does not include the Seminoles, it is essentially Dead On Arrival.  A drafted a similar bill in 2019 that met the same fate.

Florida Represented in This Year's Super Bowl

Tom Brady and the gang will be heading into Super Bowl 55 and they don't have to go very far.  This will be the first Super Bowl hosted in the same stadium in which one of the team plays their home games.

Brady joined the Tampa Bay Bucs during the offseason and will be making his 10th Super Bowl appearance.

Florida residents will have the opportunity to place hundreds of prop bets with sites accessible within the state, but licensed elsewhere.  Jazz Sports, for example, runs casino and sports betting operations throughout Latin America and is licensed in Costa Rica while accessible in the Sunshine State.
