Texas Democrats have left the Lone Star State in an attempt to delay passage of a GOP drafted bill the Dems say will make it harder for young individuals, people of color and those with disabilities to vote.

Republican Gov. Greg Abbott told an Austin television station they will be arrested upon returning home.

“As soon as they come back in the state of Texas, they will be arrested, they will be cabined inside the Texas Capitol until they get their job done,” Abbott said.

Most of the lawmakers arrived in D.C. via a chartered jet, some drove there.

“We are determined to kill this bill,” said state Rep. Chris Turner, who said he and his colleagues were prepared to run out the clock on a special session that ends early next month.

Oddsmakers have the Democrats favored to start returning in August at -120 (some could stay behind for the bet to be a winner).

The arrest of even one Dem is less likely at +300.

The most conservative media markets - Plano, Amarillo - in the state are barely reporting on the matter, a sign this saga might not be favorable for the GOP.
