What's the Spread on the Missouri vs. Kansas State Week 2 Game?

Kansas State opened as an -8.5 home favorite against Missouri.  This one was flirting with the number 8 but mostly staying at -8.5 throughout the evening Sunday.

Kansas State (30) had a power rating of 79.54.  Missouri (66) had a power rating of 70.65.  We get a line of -9 with the home field advantage.

The Wildcats shut out San Diego State 34-0.

Malik Knowles took the opening handoff 75 yards for a score.  Deuce Vaughn ran for 126 yards and another touchdown.

“We won the toss, took the football and scored on the first play,” head coach Chris Klieman said with a smile. “We had a really nice series of plays that we were going to operate and we ended up scoring on the first play.”

KSU is favored to win OVER 6.5 regular season games in 2022.

In August, Klieman spoke glowingly of his quarterback Adrian Martinez.  He completed 11 of 15 passes on Saturday, though his throws only resulted in 53 yards.

“Well, the thing that drew us to him was the amount of games he has played at Nebraska. If you get around Adrian or you visit with Adrian, the first thing that jumps out at me is his maturity and what a grounded individual he is. I've been so impressed with him as a person, as a man of faith, as somebody that came in and missed all the spring because of an injury he had.

"He practiced the last two practices, but just watching him bond with the players, watching him build relationships during the time when he couldn't be out front leading after a workout or after a practice, and now to see him going through the summer where he is cleared and healthy and watching him just kinda command the room, he's a tremendously mature individual that brings out the best in everybody. That's what excites me about him. But what drew us to him was obviously his games played and his maturity.”

Following the game, Klieman offered:

“I thought he handled everything really well for his first time,” K-State coach Chris Klieman said. “We changed a lot of things offensively. We were not what you saw last year or even in spring ball. We were tempo most of the time, and I thought our operation was really good. I thought Adrian did a great job with the operational stuff.

“Obviously, we probably missed a couple of chances. Sometimes there was protection issues. Sometimes we just didn’t locate a receiver, but I thought he played really well and I thought he played within himself. The one thing is, we didn’t turn the football over. When you don’t turn the football over and you block a punt and you rush the ball for 297 yards, good things are going to happen."
