Diamondbacks 2022 Expectations

Arizona had endured an 8–50 stretch at one point last season and they are in a very tough division.

Scouting Report (Athlon Sports):

"They're not going to go from 52 to 90 wins, but there's reason to think they can be much more respectable. They've got the best pitching coach in baseball now with Brent Strom, who combines old-school wisdom with genuine curiosity and fluency in new-age data. So I'd expect their staff to be better overall, and I'd look for an especially big year from Zac Gallen; he's a very smart pitcher and looked great at the end of the season. Madison Bumgarner will always be tough to hit because of that crossfire delivery, and he got on a nice roll there for a while after the shoulder problem. But it didn't last, and that's an albatross contract they can't move. Mark Melancon's a nice pickup as the closer — and prime trade bait if he's pitching well around the deadline. There's not a lot to like offensively besides Ketel Marte; Pavin Smith got some regular playing time, but he's a low-ceiling guy. I do like Daulton Varsho a lot — he's got the pedigree, the athleticism to play center or catcher and a great eye. He will be part of the next winning team here."

Mets 2022 Expectations

From Athlon Sports: "This is an older roster, but the Mets hope to follow the San Francisco Giants' 2021 example of getting the most out of talented veterans by having enough depth to spread around the workload. Anything less than a deep run into October would be a massive letdown in Flushing."
