Gambling911.com has Iowa as a -9/-9.5 favorite against Richmond in Round 1 of the 2022 NCAA Tournament.  The books opened on that number and have since moved to -10.5.  Richmond pays out $40,000 with a championship win.

Iowa

Record: 25-9, 12-8 Big Ten
KenPom adjusted offensive efficiency: 2
KenPom adjusted defensive efficiency: 96
Against The Spread: 21-13
Over Total: 22-11-1
Odds to win NCAA Championship: +4000

The Hawkeyes put up plenty of points while giving away plenty of opportunities as well.  They have a top scorer in Keegan Murray.

Iowa is 6-1 Against The Spread in their last 7 games overall.

They have won 22 of their games by more than 10 points this season.  They are 13-2 Straight Up over their last 15 games.

Richmond

Record: 23-12, 10-8 A-10
KenPom adjusted offensive efficiency: 66
KenPom adjusted defensive efficiency: 117
Against The Spread: 15-18-1
Over Total: 15-19
Odds to win NCAA Championship: +40000

Against ranked opponents Richmond is just 1-5 Against The Spread, and there is not a whole lot of wiggle room with a +10.5 line.

They've already overcome double digit deficits in two conference games this season.  Against Iowa that looked like much more difficult to achieve.

We had the Hawkeyes at -10 as the play here but like many of you, Richmond put us in our place with a shock win and advance to play Providence.

Sixers? Knicks? Who Can Challenge Boston in the East this Season?

As the new NBA season gets underway, there is most certainly a sense that the Boston Celtics are the team to beat once again. The 18-time champions really took an “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it” policy in the offseason, and it’s hard to argue with the tactic.
