Alabama's close call against Texas on Saturday caused a seismic shift in the College Football Playoff Championship odds for 2024.

SportsBetting.ag updated its CFP and Heisman numbers Sunday and Georgia, which started the season with the third-best odds, is now the favorite.

Alabama is just behind the Bulldogs while USC has jumped into the Top 4 as the Trojans are tied with Clemson now with 12-1 odds.

The Tide nearly lost to Texas in Week 2, escaping by the skin of their teeth with a 20-19 win.

“We know what it takes,” Young said of the final drive that started at the Alabama 25 and moved across midfield in two plays. “We embrace that challenge. That’s where we want to be at.”

But the oddsmakers know a 20-19 win against Texas is not going to instill faith in sports bettors when it comes to futures.

So far, UGA has made a case for itself, not only shutting out an inferior Samford team, but destroying a ranked Ducks squad in Week 1.

Two of the biggest shocks of the week, however, were losses by ranked teams Texas A&M and Notre Dame to teams that were double-digit underdogs.

CJ Stroud remains the overall favorite in the Heisman race, but Bryce Young has slipped to third following a lackluster game against the Longhorns.
