Until this week, those living in Rhode Island could only gamble sports online via a number of popular international websites.

Neither Twin River Casino locations will offer mobile betting at this time.  Sportsbooks in Rhode Island are expected to impose a state tax approaching 50% according to preliminary reports.  Additionally, wagering options will be limited with no parlays allowed.  Individuals will need to be at least 21 years old and have proper photo ID in order that the casino can report winnings to the IRS.

Twin River has planned an event at 3 p.m. Monday at the Tiverton Casino Hotel for the launch.

The Tiverton location is near the Massachusetts border and just 25 minutes from New Bedford, MA, Newport, RI and Providence, RI.
