Week two of the NFL season is set to kick off on Thursday night, and an NFC South showdown will be the first game on the schedule. The Carolina Panthers will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in an NFC South showdown on Thursday night and both teams will be looking for a huge bounce back win. These two teams are not expected to compete for the NFC South Division title this season, but a win in this game could set them on the right path.

Both the Buccaneers and Panthers started off the season with a loss in week one, and both teams will have plenty of things to fix heading into week two. Tampa Bay suffered a 31-17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers and could never really get things going on offense. The Carolina Panthers lost a tough, 30-27 game to the Los Angeles Rams, but they looked pretty impressive in defeat. Carolina will be a solid favorite in this game, but anything is possible in the wild and wacky NFC South Division.

Winston Struggles in Buccaneers Season Debut

Jameis Wintson is back as the starting quarterback in Tampa Bay, but his season opener did not go as planned. Winston threw three interceptions in the season opener, and two of them were returned for touchdowns in the loss. The Redskins have a ton of talent on the offensive side of the ball, but it will but up to Winston to deliver them the ball. Tampa Bay was one of the top offensive teams in the league in 2018, and they should return to that form at some point this season.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were one of the worst defensive teams in the NFL during the 2018 season, and their defense wasn’t much improved in the season opener. The Buccaneers gave up 31 points to the lowly San Francisco 49ers, and this looks like it will be another rough defensive season for Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers are going to have to find a way to get some pressure on Cam Newton or this is going to be another long night for their team, and their devoted fans.

Panthers’ Offense Solid in Season Opening Loss

The Carolina Panthers had little trouble putting up points in their season opener, but it didn’t help them earn a win. Carolina put up 27 points in their season opening loss to the Los Angeles Rams and a pair of their offensive stars looked extremely sharp. The Panthers were extremely balanced on offense in the season opener, throwing for close 215 yards while also running for over 120 yards on the ground. Carolina will win plenty of games this season if they are able to continue to have that same success and balance on offense.

Carolina was actually solid on defense in this game, and it allowed their offense a chance to play their way back into the game. The Panthers held the Rams to just over 340 total offensive yards, which is actually extremely impressive against one of the best offensive teams in the league. The Carolina defense should get more help from their offense in week two, and they could put up a low number against the Buccaneers.

Panthers Win Showdown With Bucs

Both of these teams are looking for a bounce back win, and this should be a competitive game. The Carolina Panthers have much more talent on their roster and that should propel them to a victory in this game. Jameis Winston and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense has the potential to be elite, but the Carolina Panthers have a solid defense on their squad. The Carolina Panther still have Cam Newton under center and he will lead his team to a victory in this game.
