1.   Cam Newton’s struggles continue and Carolina’s playoffs hopes are hanging by a thread.

Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers have lost four in a row. In that span, Newton has thrown for 9 touchdowns, 7 interceptions and has been sacked 12 times. While not all the blame can be thrust at Newton, this is a former MVP who is the face of the franchise. Newton has to be the guy to start dumping the water out of the sinking ship. Just four weeks ago, the Panthers were in serious contention to chase down New Orleans for the division. Now they sit at 6-6 and are currently on the outside looking in for the terms of the playoffs.

The bad news for the Panthers is that they still have to play New Orleans twice. Hopefully for them, the battle with New Orleans in Week 17 will not mean anything for the Saints and they will be playing their backups, but that is not something the Panthers want to be counting on. This week’s game at Cleveland is a must-win but going to Cleveland is not nearly as easy as it was just a year or two ago. Cleveland is a totally different team with the young duo of Baker Mayfield and Nick Chubb. This team is young, hungry, and still wants to prove itself. Cleveland will beat Carolina leaving Carolina’s playoffs hope very dim.

2. Philadelphia beats the Cowboys and starts building momentum towards the playoffs.

Remember just a few weeks ago when the defending Super Bowl Champs were completely embarrassed by the New Orleans Saints and left for dead in the NFC playoff race? Well, now the Eagles have won two in a row to get them to 6-6 and will take the division lead with a win at Dallas on Sunday afternoon. Dallas has won four in a row and is playing just as well as anyone in the league right now. The Cowboys will have the advantage of home field, but now the pressure is directly on them. We all know how Jason Garrett led teams do when they have a target on their back. After being counted out, the Eagles are playing with free money right now. Look for Carson Wentz to have a big day and take the division from the Cowboys. Would you want to play Philly in the playoffs?

3. The Rams crush the Bears and fans in Chicago start becoming very uneasy towards their playoff hopes.

Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky will be playing his first game in three weeks after injuring his throwing shoulder. Trubisky is young and still learning, so any absence from the field is hugely detrimental to his growth and the success of the Bears. Trubisky’s timing has been off at times already this season, so that aspect of his game will suffer with the absence. With a Bears loss, they will drop to 8-5 with the Vikings hot on their heels. A once comfortable Chicago fan base will definitely start looking over their shoulders after the Rams get a huge confidence boosting win on the shores of Lake Michigan.
