The move makes perfect business sense. Working under the Golden Nugget roof, Sugarhouse was prevented from being able to take NBA bets.  Tilman Fertitta, the casino’s owner, also owns the Houston Rockets.

To date, the sportsbook operation has enjoyed some degree of success.

From LSR:

While far behind market leaders DraftKings Sportsbook and FanDuel Sportsbook, SugarHouse reported respectable revenue in September.

Golden Nugget’s only digital licensee posted more than $619,000 in sports betting revenue for the month. Combined with a few August days after launch, the year-to-date total for SugarHouse checks in at better than $722,000.

SugarHouse now moves onto a Monmouth Park license that includes William Hill‘s mobile skin as well.
