Gambling911.com had an early line of Ole Miss Rebels -3 as they had to Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville to face off against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.  The Bulldogs were a -1 point favorite heading into Monday morning.

Ahead of Saturday's game, Alabama would have to lose to both Arkansas and Auburn for Ole Miss to win out and sneak into the SEC Championship game.

They were slated to play a 2-8 Vanderbilt team ahead of the Bulldogs.

Mississippi State is no guaranteed win.  In fact, the Rebels have gone just 5-4 over the last nine meetings and 7-9 over the last 16.

The first game in the so-called Egg Bowl was played on October 28, 1901.  The rivalry derived its name courtesy of the Clarion-Ledger newspaper in Jackson, Mississippi, which first used it in print in the 1977 in the headline: "Egg Bowl Is Up For Scramble." Adding "bowl" to the Battle for the Golden Egg helped raise the stakes for the rivalry game.

Mississippi State was devouring Tennessee State as this was going to press, though the anticipated big win will do little to change the line ahead of action.
