  • PA soon to offer online sports betting, but probably not for the 2018 Football season
  • Pittsburgh residence will have access to sports betting by way of West Virginia's Mountaineer Casino
  • The Mountaineer Casino sportsbook was due to open at the start of Football and is 45 minutes from Pitt

While Pennsylvania has legalized sports betting, the closest sports book to Pittsburgh for now will be found in neighboring West Virginia.

Unitl now, sports betting was only allowed to PA residents through a few select internationally licensed wagering sites.  These will still be available for placing bets from your home.

But if you want to enjoy the physical sports betting experience the Football season, complete with alcohol, big screens and, the best part, payouts as soon as the game has ended.... head on over to the Mountaineer Casino Racetrack & Resort in West Virginia's Northern Panhandle, an easy 45 minutes outside of Pittsburgh.

Construction was under way with wagering likely available at some point during the upcoming NFL season so that Steelers fans will be able to enjoy betting on their home town team in person.

In PA, so far only Penn National Gaming in Wyomissing has applied to offer sports betting after the PGCB approved its third set of regulations Wednesday (August 15).

Futures wagers on the Steelers will still need to be placed with international betting firms.
