Sporting Chance had long odds of 30-1 to win this year's Preakness Stakes.  SCROLL DOWN FOR MORE

"He is a very good horse and has a lot of quality and I think he will win a grade 1 as a 3-year-old," Trainer D. Wayne Lukas said.

"Whether he belongs in the Preakness I don't know, but on form he deserves to take his chance," Woods Edge's Peter O'Callaghan said. "Obviously, the (Preakness) favorite will be very tough, but it's a horse race. I would love to see the horse win a nice race this year, whether it's the Preakness or one down the line."

Sporting Chance will be ridden by Luis Contreras.

From Forbes.com:

The first of two here for Lukas, this guy looked last summer like he was going to be one of the top three-year-olds of 2018. He won twice at Saratoga, incuding the Grade 1 Hopeful, and hasn’t made it back to the winner’s circle since, and he failed to even qualify for the Kentucky Derby. A wet track could be tricky for him, and he’s another that’s done his best running while setting the pace.
