PokerNews.com is reporting that big name poker pro Gavin Smith has passed away unexpectedly.

Details of his death were not immediately known.

Smith died Monday night at the age of 50.

Beloved in the community, Smith first came on the scene winning the World Poker Tour Season IV Mirage Poker Championship for a career-high $1,128,278 and then the WPT Season IV (2005) Player of the Year title.  He had amassed over $6 million in live tournament wins over his career.
