Oklahoma - OU is second in the Big 12 in field goal percentage defense, has the ability to keep games close and minimizes opponents' possessions.  But it also has a thin bench with only three Sooners score in double figures.

Mississippi - The Rebels have a few good wins under their belt this season.  The big news is Ole Miss' 23-9 record Against The Spread.  This includes seven covers over the last ten games.   BetOnline confirmed Ole Miss was the only team that did not have a single future bet to win the tournament Championship.

From ESPN.com: "Like many teams in modern college basketball, the Rebels have a split personality. When the 3-point shot is falling they look as if they could compete with or beat any team in the nation. And when the shots aren't falling? Well, they are quite ordinary. Combine a chilly shooting performance with a troublesome knack for turnovers (18.6 percent of possessions) and Ole Miss is certain to head for an early exit."

Predictions

Scores and Stats: OU covers the -1 spread with 6-point victory over Ole Miss.

ESPN: "Some analysts would argue that Ole Miss went through a stronger schedule this season, which is why they should enter the opening round as favorites. Regardless of that narrative, the Worldwide Leader in Sports is actually siding with Oklahoma."

Oddsshark: "When initially seeing this line, I thought it was a mistake as I figured the Sooners would be favored. Diving into the numbers for both teams, I still think it’s a mistake. Mississippi really has only two signature wins this year, both against Auburn, and lost in the opening round of the tournament to Alabama. That is not a resume that inspires confidence in an SEC team that already plays in a weaker conference of the Power 5.

"As for Oklahoma, I like the defensive intensity the Sooners have put forth all season and, playing in the Big 12, they face much tougher opponents than Ole Miss saw during conference play. The Sooners have at least beaten Florida (a team Ole Miss lost to), Texas and Kansas this year and defend the three-point line well enough that Ole Miss could have trouble scoring. Usually, these 8-9 games feel like coin flips but I’ll side with the better defensive team with the better resume."

Action vs. Line Movement

64% of the spread action was on the Sooners at +1.  The line has moved to +2.5 but is dropping back down in an effort to get more money on Ole Miss.  There is no bookmaker opinion on this game.

Is the Line Correct?

Sagarin indicates the line should be -2 in favor of Oklahoma.
