North Carolina (UNC) Tar Heels Office Pool Strategy, Pick, Odds - 2019 March Madness

When making your March Madness office pool picks, consider the teams carefully.  The UNC Tar Heels, for example, are widely expected to make the Final Four.  Their odds of winning the Championship pay $60 for every $10 bet.

Why They Go Deep

After an initial game against Iona as a -24.5 favorite, UNC plays either Utah State or Washington, neither of which presents a serious threat in the whole scheme of things.  UNC will be a double digit favorite against either of those two teams and Washington probably has no business being in the Big Dance.

The Tar Heels have one of the best back courts in the country and have the ability to blow by defenders.

Oddsmakers tend to shade lines on marquee teams they know are good from the get go like UNC, but remarkably the Tar Heels enter this big dance with a 21-10-2 record Against The Spread.  They have covered in seven of their last ten games.

Why Be Concerned

If a team can find a way to slow them down, UNC might be in trouble. Three of Carolina's five losses this year came when the Heels were held under 70 points.  Aside from Louisville, the other two teams to beat UNC were those ranked among the top 20 including UVA and Michigan.  North Carolina will likely face Auburn.  Games in which Auburn played this season went OVER the total 18 of 35 times, or nearly half the games.  If they can bet past the Tigers, UNC needs to worry about Kentucky as only 12 of 33 games went OVER the total in Wildcats games this season.
