Status of Sports Betting in NY

Lawmakers do want sports betting in casinos but recessed for the remainder of 2018, which means no sports betting until after the Super Bowl.

Those residing in Manhattan, Staten Island and the lower Southeast portion of New York State do have somewhat easy access to neighboring New Jersey, where a sportsbook now operates from the Meadowlands.  You will not be able to bet on NJ college teams however.

There are also no laws on the books prohibiting online gambling explicitly.  The state has been home to daily fantasy sports and horse racing sites including NYRBets and FanDuel.
