To ensure that there is a game in the coveted Sunday night primetime slot, the NFL made a late adjustment to its schedule putting the NFC West in the crosshairs. The only unbeaten team in the conference and one of three in the NFL, the Seattle Seahawks return from their bye to face the upstart Arizona Cardinals. The move was made due to a COVID outbreak with the Las Vegas Raiders putting their Week 7 game in jeopardy. Despite having the worst total defense in the NFL, the Seahawks are 5-0 for the first time in franchise history thanks the MVP play of Russell Wilson. Seattle hit the board as a field-goal favorite to extend their perfect season.  Bookmaker.eu offers a generous welcome bonus (max bonus $1600).

Odds Analysis

It’s easy to why the Seahawks are favored. They are undefeated, which is a big reason, but they are also coming off a bye facing a team that just played on Monday night. Of course that means nothing when the ball is kicked off, but in terms of being rested Seattle has the edge. It was somewhat surprising to see the opening line of Seattle -5 bet down to -3. Seattle’s defense is a concern giving some bettors confidence that Kyler Murray and the Cards can keep this game close. Three of Seattle’s wins have come in the final seconds, including the Week 5 27-26 thriller over Minnesota. The Seahawks failed to cover the 6.5-point spread falling to 4-1 ATS. Arizona is coming off its best performance of the season in a 38-10 win over Dallas. The Cards were getting one point on the line earning a payout for the second straight week. They are 4-2 ATS.

Seattle Seahawks

Seattle sits atop the most competitive division in football playing its first game against an NFC West opponent this week. Every team is at .500 or better so the competition will be stiff. With Wilson working his magic once again, the Seahawks won their fifth straight to open the campaign establishing a team record. Wilson threw three touchdown passes, including the game-winner to D.K. Metcalf with 15 seconds to play for the 27-26 win over Minnesota.

An early favorite to win his first MVP award, Wilson has been lights out helping to overcome a shaky defense. Even though he didn’t play last week, Wilson still leads the league with 19 touchdown throws, three more than the next player, while also having the top passer rating. Seattle had its season-opening streak of scoring at least 31 points snapped by the Vikings, but they still boast the highest scoring offense with 33.8 points per game.

All those points have been needed since the Legion of Boom is a distant memory in the Pacific Northwest. The Seahawks are last in the league surrendering 471.2 yards a game, including a NFL-worst 370.4 through the air. The numbers are slightly misleading since opponents have had to play catch up, but still the rankings are alarming. And the Hawks could again be without Jamal Adams, who missed the previous two games with an injury and has yet to practice this week.

Arizona Cardinals

Rebounding from a two-game losing streak, the Cardinals finished off a three-game road trip by trouncing the Jets and Dallas by a combined score of 68-20, covering both times to improve to 4-2 SU and ATS. It’s the first time the Cards have been over .500 this late in a season since 2015 when they last made the postseason. If there is any concern playing on a short week, keep in mind that the Cards have a bye in Week 8, so they can go all out in a game that can show how far they’ve progressed.

We didn’t learn much over the last two games. Sure, the Cards smoked their opponents, but the Jets and Cowboys don’t strike fear in teams right now. New York is winless and the Boys are a late field goal and muffed special teams play away from joining them. But, I digress. You still have to win the games and the Cards left little doubt. Beating Dallas 38-10 with Murray completing only nine passes tells you something about the offense. Kenyan Drake ran for 164 of the team’s 261 yards against the Boys.

The NFL’s worst defense in terms of yards allowed last season has turned a corner in 2020. The Cards had one of their best games last week, though they didn’t have to face Dak Prescott. Instead they made life miserable for Andy Dalton picking him off twice and tallying four sacks. In all the Cards forced four turnovers. And turnovers will factor into the outcome with Seattle sporting a NFL-best plus-six turnover margin. The Cards had at least one giveaway in every game until a spotless performance last week.

It’s hard not to see points scored in this game giving value to the OVER, which is the second-highest on the Week 7 board. The Cards will show that they belong, though it’s hard to bet against Wilson. This will be a difficult matchup for the Cards and the short week concerns me, which is why backing the visitors minus the points is a good play.

NFL Score Prediction: Seahawks 35, Cardinals 27
