The Kansas City Chiefs look to avenge their only loss of the season when they venture to the Nevada desert for an AFC West showdown with the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday Night Football. The winner of this game might be the virus with a number of players on each side put on the reserve/COVID list this week. Who plays and who doesn’t remains to be seen. When the teams played in Week 5, Derek Carr had an outstanding day to help the Raiders end a five-game losing streak in the series, getting the payout as a 10.5-point underdog. Trying to keep pace with Pittsburgh for the top spot in the conference, the Chiefs are positioned as a 7-point favorite on the NFL betting line.  Bookmaker.eu offers a generous welcome bonus (max bonus $1600).

Odds Analysis

Despite that earlier loss to the Raiders most feel Kansas City is the superior team. The record certainly indicates that with the Chiefs at 8-1. And the new playoff format makes this an important game for both teams. The addition of one wild card opens the door for Vegas, which sits at 6-3. Only the top seed in each conference gets a first-round bye this season and KC is trailing the undefeated Steelers. Vegas beat Denver 37-12 last week, its third in a row SU and ATS. The Raiders improved to 6-3 ATS for the season. The Chiefs are a 7-point favorite to extend their winning streak to five. They are 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS since their Week 5 setback. The total of 57 is the highest on the Week 11 board.

Kansas City Chiefs

A quirk in the schedule has seen the Chiefs play the Raiders the past two seasons and in three of the last four after their bye. And KC has taken advantage of the additional prep time by going 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS in those games. They hammered the Raiders 40-9 last season covering the 11-point closing line and also got a payout in Oakland in 2016. Overall the Chiefs are 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS the previous six seasons in games immediately following their off week.

Revenge is strong motivation, but so is keeping pace with Pittsburgh for the top seed in the conference. Perhaps looking ahead to their bye the Chiefs had a difficult time against the Panthers in Week 9 prevailing 33-31 as a 10-point favorite. As usual Patrick Mahomes and the offense are lighting it up. Mahomes leads the NFL with 25 touchdown passes and his 2,687 yards are the second-most. The Chiefs have eclipsed the 30-point mark six times, including the last three, and boast the second-highest scoring offense with an average of 31.8 points.

It was the defense that let them down in the Week 5 encounter, a rare occurrence this season. While they aren’t very good stopping the run, the Chiefs have been successful preventing points. Only twice have they allowed more than 20 points in a game and they rank sixth in scoring defense at 20.3 points per game.

Las Vegas Raiders

Another mammoth game from Derek Carr is needed for the Raiders to get the season sweep and move within a game of the Chiefs in the AFC West standings. Carr’s best game of the season was in KC when he went 22 of 31 for 347 yards and three touchdowns. He directed the comeback after Vegas feel behind 21-10 in that game. The Raiders have relied on a strong defense and solid ground game during their current three-game winning streak with Carr a non-factor.

Carr’s highest passing yardage total in any of those wins was 165 and he’s averaging only 143 yards per game while averaging 23 pass attempts. We’ll probably see a lot of Josh Jacobs, who’s been doing the heavy lifting recently. Jacobs rushed for 129 yards against Cleveland and pounded the Broncos for 112 yards and a pair of touchdowns in last week’s romp. During the winning streak Jacobs is averaging 102 yards per game and 4.6 yards per carry.

Jacobs and Devontae Booker combined for 193 yards and four touchdowns on the ground last week and will look to exploit Kansas City’s 29th ranked run defense. That strategy is two-fold if successful. First it keeps Mahomes and the Chiefs offense off the field. And it allows the Raiders to control the tempo, which is something they’ve done well during their winning streak.

Bet Chiefs at Raiders at BookMaker.eu

The Chiefs are good after a bye and Mahomes is always good giving me confidence in the visitors. While he claims it isn’t a big deal, Andy Reid mentioned the Raiders’ ‘victory lap’ around Arrowhead following the earlier meeting, just adding fuel to an already combustible situation. KC knows what’s at stake and they won’t take the Raiders lightly in this game. And with both teams playing strong defense, the total is too high for me.

NFL Score Prediction: Chiefs 30, Raiders 20
