Just a few years ago this was a huge rivalry in the AFC with the Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots battling in the postseason three times in a four-year stretch that saw the winner advance to the Super Bowl each time. The glory days appear to be over for the Pats, who barely got by the New York Jets on Monday night ending a four-game slide. The window is still open for the Ravens entering this Sunday Night Football tilt riding a 10-game road winning streak and looking to stay within striking distance of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North.  Bookmaker.eu is offering a generous welcome bonus (max bonus $1600)

Odds Analysis

The Ravens hit the board as a 7-point favorite and there’s been little movement since. Baltimore bounced back last week with a payout win at Indianapolis ending a 2-game ATS slide while improving to 6-2 SU and 4-4 ATS. It was also their 10th straight road victory with the Ravens going 7-2-1 ATS in that span. The Pats ended a four-game skid with a comeback 30-27 win over the Jets on MNF. They failed to cover the 9-point closing and are just 1-4 ATS in the last five games. Both teams offensive struggles weren’t lost on oddsmakers, who posted the total at 40.5. Action on the OVER forced a spike to 43.5, though still the lowest on the Week 10 board. The teams cashed the over in each of the last four meetings, including last year in Baltimore’s 37-20 victory.

Baltimore Ravens

It took a half of football for the Ravens to find their groove against the Colts. Once they did it was another road victory. Doubt started to creep in on the play of Lamar Jackson, who suffered through a four-turnover game in a Week 8 loss to Pittsburgh. He didn’t turn the ball over last week, but the Ravens managed just 55 total yards with all five first half possessions ending with a punt. It’s a good thing the defense is as good as ever.

Shutting down Philip Rivers and another defensive score allowed the Ravens to hang around until the offense came to life. Chuck Clark returned a fumble, the sixth defensive touchdown in the last 10 games, and the Ravens held Indy off the scoreboard in the second half. They’ve held five opponents to 17 points or less this season boasting the league’s top unit surrendering just 17.8 points per game. Calais Campbell and Matthew Judon are out, but the group is getting Marlon Humphrey back after his release from the COVID list.

Jackson hasn’t been as explosive this season and the scoring has plummeted. After leading the NFL last season, the Ravens are eighth at 28.4 points per game. Not bad, but not quite the same level. The passing game has floundered with Jackson failing to throw for more than 208 yards since the opener. The ground game continues to be punishing, however, and could improve with the expected return of Mark Ingram.

New England Patriots

The post-Brady era has been a debacle as the Pats look to find a quarterback to lead the team. Cam Newton is coming off arguably his best game since joining the club, going 27 of 35 for 274 yards through the air while adding a pair of rushing touchdowns. The Pats need more from their 28th ranked pass offense, though. They haven’t had a touchdown pass since Jarrett Stidham tossed one against Kansas City in Week 4.

The quarterback trio of Newton, Stidham and Brian Hoyer has combined for a league-low three touchdowns passes with their 11 interceptions the second-highest team total. It’s pretty obvious what the weakness is. The good news is that Newton didn’t commit a turnover last week. He had three picks in an ugly loss to San Francisco in Week 7 and his fumble deep in Buffalo territory cost the Pats at least a chance to tie the game with Buffalo.

Turnovers have been a problem all season despite a mistake-free outing against the Jets. The Pats have coughed it up 15 times and will have to value the football against an aggressive Ravens team that has 14 takeaways, including at least one in a record 21 consecutive games. Oh, and containing Jackson is high on that list, too.

The Pats won last week, but people probably feel even worse about their chances since it took a fourth quarter comeback to knock off the woeful Jets. It’s not just the QB spot that’s been a problem; there are failures all over the field, including on defense. It’s hard to see the Pats winning this game against a good Baltimore defense, so I’m laying the points and siding with the visitors.

NFL Score Prediction: Ravens 28, Patriots 20
