The rich get richer, at least that’s what the rest of the NBA is saying now that the Golden State Warriors have trotted out DeMarcus Cousins for the first time this season.

Making his debut after recovering from an Achilles injury, Boogie played 15 minutes and the Warriors won again, further stretching their lead in the Western Conference. It looks as though the Warriors were a little pissed that the Nuggets were holding down the top spot in the conference but a 31-point win in the Mile High city as part of their seven-game run was a statement. They’ll look to continue that with a game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday.

The Dubs are getting all the pieces in place and they look unbeatable during a current stretch that saw them win seven in a row. They scored at least 119 point in six of those wins and tallied over 140 three times with the over going 5-2. They have been on a revenge tour recently with wins over Dallas and Denver, a pair of teams they lost to earlier in the season. Now they get the shorthanded Lakers with a chance to extend their winning streak.

While Golden State is getting players back in the lineup, the Lakers are losing theirs. LeBron James is expected to be out a few more games and Rajon Rondo is a few weeks away from getting back on the court. Now, the Lakers are without Lonzo Ball, who injured his ankle over the weekend. Ball had been playing inspired basketball lately and had taken on a leadership role in the absence of LeBron and Rondo.

Finishing off a brutal three-game stretch that included road games in OKC and Houston, the Lakers looked in good shape until Ball went down. They beat the Thunder and lost a 21-point lead to the Rockets falling in overtime. The Lakers are 5-8 without the King and will be without Ball for a month to six weeks.

Warriors

With Cousins finally in the lineup, the Warriors started five All-Stars from the previous season, and it showed in their dismantling of the Clippers for their seventh straight win and sixth in a row on the road. Cousins was ecstatic to be back on the court since his injury last season. He played only 15 minutes before fouling out, but he was productive scoring 14 points on 5 of 11 shooting, and he fit right in with the long-distance shooting of his mates. Cousins hit 3 of 4 triples on a night when the rest of the team was just 6 of 34.

The Warriors are having fun with Kevin Durant and Steph Curry giving Boogie a standing ovation when he made his way to the bench after picking up his sixth four. And even though they didn’t play their best, the Warriors still won by 18 points. They are outscoring opponents by an average of over 18 points during their streak while averaging nearly 131 points per outing.

Lakers

It looked like the young Lakers were starting to figure out how to win without their King. After narrowly escaping the Bulls to end a two-game slide that included a loss to the Cavs, they went on the road and beat OKC 138-128 in overtime behind 18 points and 10 assists from Ball. Ivica Zubac added a career-high 26 points and Kyle Kuzma chipped in 32 points. Along with Brandon Ingram, who dished out 11 assists, those are the players Luke Walton needs to step up. And they did.

However, the loss of Ball, who had been playing the best in his young career, is another blow. The Lakers will have James back soon, Rondo is progressing, and Ball is expected to be out a month. Now they need to stay afloat in the meantime and facing the Warriors is a huge challenge.

The Dubs have a way of getting back at teams that beat them earlier in the season. And with the Lakers missing a number of stars, this should be an easy road win for Golden State. Cousins will bet better as he chisels the rust off and you can expect that Christmas Day loss to still be fresh. Kyle Kuzma will look to do most of the damage for the Lakers and you can win a prop bet at BookMaker.eu by taking the over on his point total. However, this sets up well for the Dubs to extend their winning streak with plenty of points coming from their big five.

NBA Score Prediction: Warriors 122, Lakers 109
