You knew something had to give when the Brooklyn Nets acquired James Harden. We can now say that the Nets lost some defense in the deal. It isn’t often a team scores 146 points in a regulation game ... and loses. That’s what happened to the Nets on Sunday in an epic meltdown that put their four-game winning streak to bed. Brooklyn will try to regroup against the surging Los Angeles Clippers when the team hookup in the first game of a TNT doubleheader on Tuesday.  Bookmaker.eu offers a generous CASH welcome bonus (max bonus $1600)

Odds Analysis

Their six-game road trip didn’t start off very well, but it sure has gotten better. Playing without Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, the Clippers opened the trip with a loss to Atlanta stopping a seven-game winning streak. They bounced back without their top two players to beat Miami and battered Orlando and New York with Leonard and George back in the rotation. Winning three straight while going 3-0 ATS and 10 of their previous 11 games, the Clippers took over the top spot in the Western Conference standings. We have yet to see a line for this game but the Nets will likely be a short favorite. They saw their four-game winning streak end with a 149-146 loss to Washington on Sunday and are 6-3 SU and 3-6 ATS since the Harden deal. You can’t complain about the offense with more than 140 points scored in the last two games moving the OVER to 9-1 in Brooklyn’s last 10.

Los Angeles Clippers

Their recent run of success lifted the Clippers to the best record in the entire league entering the week. Tyronn Lue is pushing all the right buttons and they look like a team on a mission. All that can change quickly as we saw last week when both Leonard and George were absent due to health and safety protocols. LA never led in its 108-99 loss to Atlanta, their only setback in the last 11 contests.

Not letting the absence of their top two scorers affect them, the Clips showed off depth and balance in beating Miami, 109-105, the next time out. Nicolas Batum led six players in double figures with 18 points. Relieved to hear Leonard and George were medically cleared, the Clips celebrated by whacking Orlando and New York, improving to 8-3 SU and ATS in away games. George scored 26 points and Kawhi had 24 in their return, a 116-90 win over the Magic.

Brooklyn’s matador defense could be in for a shock if the Clips keep producing like they did against the Knicks on Sunday. Taking apart the NBA’s best defensive team, LA made 17 threes, shot 54.3 percent overall and scored the most points against New York this season in its 129-115 win. “We’re just a pretty good offensive team. We share the ball, we move it, we look for the open man. We emphasize passing up good shots for great ones and I think we do a pretty good job of doing that,” George said.

Brooklyn Nets

You can’t say it hasn’t been exciting watching the Nets and their big three perform. The only problem is that we haven’t seen a lot of them on the court at the same time, which makes what the Nets did in their last two games more impressive. With Durant sitting out the Nets ambushed Oklahoma 147-125 with Kyrie Irving and Harden scoring 25 points each to lead nine players in double figures.

Harden sat out Sunday’s tilt at Washington leaving Durant to score 37 points and Joe Harris 30. The Nets made 19 three-pointers and shot 57 percent for the second straight game, unfortunately they couldn’t get a win, falling 149-146 when the Wizards hit consecutive triples in the final eight seconds. Since the Harden trade the Nets are averaging 127.3 points and boast the NBA’s best offensive rating. They also have the league’s worst defensive rating over that span. “It’s not looking great defensively for our team, giving up that many points,” Durant said after the Washington game.

The good news is that Harden’s injury isn’t serious and his absence Sunday was more precautionary, according to Steve Nash. He’s averaging 24.3 points in a Brooklyn uniform and hit 11 of 20 three-pointers in his previous three games.

Bet Clippers at Nets at BookMaker.eu

We should expect plenty of points in this matchup with several of the greatest scorers in the game on the court. According to Nash the Nets have a long way to go defensively, and that won’t get it done against the Clippers. LA is still without one of the best defenders in Patrick Beverley, but the Clips have shown plenty of depth on this road trip, and that makes all the difference in this matchup.

NBA Score Prediction: Clippers 123, Nets 118
