Preview

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets RH Michael Wacha (2019: 6-7, 4.76 ERA) vs. Red Sox LH Josh Osich (0-0, 0.00)

Wacha makes his Mets debut after signing a one-year deal with the club, following seven seasons with St. Louis. The 29-year-old Iowa native won a career-most 17 games in 2015, but has managed only 33 combined in the last four years after making 24 starts (29 appearances) with the Cardinals in 2019. Jonathan Lucroy is 6-for-16 with a homer versus Wacha, who is 6-7 with a 4.02 ERA in interleague play but has yet to face Boston in the regular season.

Osich is slated to make his first career start after recording 218 major league appearances as a reliever, including a scoreless inning Saturday. The 31-year-old Osich, who is 10-5 with a 4.86 ERA in parts of six seasons, is expected to go an inning or two Monday and be followed by right-hander Zack Godley. The 30-year-old Godley, who signed a minor-league deal with Boston on July 17, was 4-5 combined with a 5.97 ERA with Arizona and Toronto last season.
