The newly opened FanDuel sportsbook in the Meadowlands of East Rutherford, New Jersey has a lot to learn about how sports wagering actually works.  No, you don't close shop before a game that goes into overtime ends.

It happened the other night when the Dodgers-Phillies game went into 16 innings.

LegalSportsReport.com writes:

A bettor at the sportsbook tweeted that windows closed without some tickets being paid because of a lack of cash on hand. The company denied that claim in a statement Wednesday morning and said all outstanding bets will be paid.

One gambler tweeted out:

Many of the betters are going home tonight with tickets in hand, including me. @FanDuel Meadowlands didn’t have cash in the draws to payout. Amateur hour here. @GUnit_81 @andrewssports @JimmyVaccaro @beatingthebook @paulyhoward @MitchMossRadio @VSiNVinny @VSiNLive

For the most part, FanDuel and the state of New Jersey has mostly been in celebration mode with favorable numbers reported after the first week.

According to Wayne Parry of the Associated Press, the track accepted $3.5 million worth of bets in the first nine days after opening on July 14.

Online gambling will be available shortly but is not expected to be as comprehensive as internatlly-licensed sports betting firms the likes of BetOnline, which this week marks its 19th year in operation.
