The Cowboys continue to put distance between themselves and the rest of the division by winning games, making this a critical contest for the playoff hopes of each. The Eagles are hoping last week’s comeback win over the Giants was enough to get them going while the Skins are counting on a full week of preparation for Colt McCoy to lead the offense to greater heights. There will be no shortage of prop bet options when the division rivals stare each other down.

Both teams badly need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive so we might see both go for it when the opportunity arises. The Skins are currently in a playoff spot heading into Monday’s tilt, but that’s tenuous after they lost two straight games and three of the last four. And they will have to use a backup quarterback the rest of the way after Alex Smith broke his leg a few weeks ago. McCoy is a serviceable backup and he knows the system having been in DC since 2014. The only problem is he never got much playing time.

Sitting behind Kirk Cousins for the previous three seasons and now Smith, McCoy hadn’t thrown a pass since the 2015 season when he was summoned to take over against Houston when Smith went down. McCoy threw a touchdown pass and was 6 of 12 for 54 yards in that game. He got his first start since the 2014 season just a few days later on Thanksgiving Day in Dallas and had decent numbers hitting on 24 of 38 throws for 268 yards and three TDs. However, three interceptions proved to be his and the Skins downfall in the 31-23 loss.

With a full week of reps with the first team, the hope is that McCoy gets some familiarity with his receivers and backs. Washington’s offense was more aggressive with McCoy behind center than it was with Smith, and that led to some issues down the field. The turnovers were a result of the aggressive nature. The payoff is also big plays if the pass-catchers adjust.

McCoy will continue to be aggressive, that’s the way he plays, and against an Eagles secondary weakened by injuries the chunk plays are available. The run game has been hit and miss, and with Adrian Peterson banged up the Skins will look to throw the football. McCoy will look to his tight ends Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis underneath after watching the Eagles struggle in coverage last week. Reed has caught nine of 11 passes thrown by McCoy and is in line for a big game. Playing the over on McCoy’s passing yard total and Reed’s receptions on a prop bet at BookMaker.eu could pay off handsomely. In addition, the expected return of Chris Thompson will also give McCoy a security blanket in the short passing game, which will only help him to eclipse his total.

While the tight end position has been a big part of the Redskins offense, it’s been THE offense on the other side. Philly’s Zach Ertz is having a monster year with nearly twice as many receptions as the team’s second-leading receiver. Ertz has 84 catches on 111 targets with four games of at least 10 catches. His six touchdown grabs are also a team-high with all of them coming in the last seven games.

The Eagles’ offense has become one dimensional without a consistent run game and receivers Nelson Agholor and Alshon Jeffery have been non-factors over the past few games. Carson Wentz will lean heavily on his favorite target, especially in the red zone. Make a prop bet play on Ertz to exceed his total number of catches and score a touchdown at some point in Monday night’s game.

Like I said earlier, this is an important game for the playoff hopes of both teams and I don’t expect the coaches to play it conservatively. That will help the point total and allow both teams pile up the yards against defenses that have struggled recently. Playing the over on the combined point total appears to be a winning prop bet wager at BookMaker.eu.
