The Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks are set to meet up on Wednesday night in a battle of two of the biggest and best franchises in the NBA. The two teams will square off at Madison Square Garden, which is the most recognizable and iconic venue in all of sports. The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the top teams in the NBA this season, while the New York Knicks are in the middle of another long rebuild.

The Los Angeles Lakers might be the best team in the Western Conference this season, but they have been struggling to pick up wins of late. Los Angeles has lost two of their last three games, and they are in the middle of a difficult road trip. New York is coming off a blowout win in their most recent game, but they just can’t seem to turn things around. The Knicks are just 12-32 so far on the season, and are just 6-15 at Madison Square Garden.

Lakers Losing Focus on Defense

The Los Angeles Lakers were a terrific defensive team to begin the season, but that just hasn’t been the case over the last few weeks. Los Angeles has allowed at least 115 points in each of their last three games, and it’s hard to win games allowing that many points. The Lakers are still allowing just 105.6 points per game this season, but they will need to get back to playing great defense to win this game.

Los Angeles has dealt with some injuries over the last few weeks, but they are close to full strength for this game. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are both averaging over 26 points per game this season, and they are both capable of registering a triple-double in this game. The Lakers have enough pieces to support Davis and LeBron, but they will need to shoot it well to cruise to victory in this game. Los Angeles will be looking to put on an offensive show against the Knicks.

Knicks Struggling to Find Offense

The New York Knicks have struggled to find offense all season long, and there just aren’t a ton of great offensive weapons on this roster. New York is averaging just 104.2 points per game this season, and they will need to score much more than that to win this game. Marcus Morris is leading the team with over 19 points per game, but the Knicks have struggled to make shots at times this season.

Defense has also been a major struggle for the New York Knicks this season, but they have been great on that end of the floor of late. The Knicks have allowed just 176 combined points over their last two games, but that is going to be a real challenge in this game. The Knicks don’t have anyone to matchup to the two biggest stars for the Lakers, and they will need to win this game with their offense.
