Wayne Taulapapa ran for two touchdowns, the second with 2:34 remaining, and No. 25 Virginia hung on, just barely, to beat Florida State 31-24 in Week 3.

The Cavaliers stopped Cam Akers on a final-play run from the 4 on Saturday night and barely hung on for a 31-24 victory that was reminiscent of the one in 1995 when they stopped Warrick Dunn on the final play in handing the Seminoles' their first ACC loss.

"Anyone that was in the stadium today witnessed an amazing football game," Virginia coach Bronco Mendenhall said. "Our defensive heart and effort was magical. I won't forget this one ever."

Notre Dame played well but ultimately lost to UGA in Week 4.

For No. 7 Notre Dame, it was another big-game loss but a performance that should bring more respect.

Jake Fromm threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Lawrence Cager early in the fourth quarter and the Bulldogs survived for a 23-17 victory that was much tougher than many expected.

"That's what college football is all about, man," Georgia coach Kirby Smart said. "I hate that somebody had to lose that game. I've got a lot of respect for the way they played, and all the negative things they've heard, and to come out and play the way they did. They played really physical as a team, and so did we. We persevered."
