2021 Preakness Stakes Odds

Medina Spirit 7-2
Concert Tour 9-1
Midnight Bourbon 15-1
Crowded Trade 16-1
Ram 18-1
Unbridled Honor 18-1
France Go De Ina 20-1
Rombauer 20-1
Get Her Number 25-1

Medina Spirit's top three competitors have been pulled from this coming weekend's Preakness Stakes.

Trainer Brad Cox says he’ll skip the second jewel of the Triple Crown with his two horses, Essential Quality and runner-up Mandaloun.

Essential Quality was favored to win this year's Kentucky Derby but finished 4th.

Cox explanation for pulling Mandaloun is to have him ready for more races as a 3-year-old and beyond.

Mandaloun “ran extremely well and hard and just feel like we would like to give him some time,” Cox said on a National Thoroughbred Racing Association conference call. “We just feel like in the best interest of the horse to run him back in two weeks is just not the right thing for him.”

Hot Rod Charlie, third by a length behind Medina Spirit, will target the Belmont Stakes.

“Well jog for another day or two, and when he gives us the signal he wants to do more, we’ll start galloping,” trainer Doug O’Neill said.

This leaves the horse with the next shortest odds, Concert Tour, at 9-1.
