Seems hard to believe that the winningest man in poker has actually not won a live tournament title since 2015.  That streak came to an end yesterday as Daniel "Kid Poker" Negreanu defeated a field of 35 entries to win the 2021 PokerGO Cup $50,000 High Roller To Win $700,000.

"The Streak is Over"

A jubilant Negreanu celebrated his first victory in nearly eight years via Twitter.

  • To be clear, nobody's been shedding a tear over Negreanu's failure to take home the 1st place prize these last few years.
  • “If I look at my results since 2013, I’ve cashed for $20 to $30 million, so I’ve still been able to post wins in terms of finances, but the elusive top prize has been missing,” Negreanu told a PokerGO reporter when asked about the title drought.
  • One has to go all the way back to May 25, 2015 to find Kid Poker's most recent first place finish, the No Limit Hold'em - Shark Cage Season 2 in Monte Carlo for nearly $1 million.
  • Negreanu was beginning to look like the Creedence Clearwater Revival of poker, reaching the number two spot on seven occasions since 2015.
  • The Canadian poker pro is a six-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner.

This was Negreanu’s  third cash of the series with earnings of $766,200.
