It is legal to bet the Super Bowl from New York State with the U.S. Supreme Court abolishing decades long prohibition of sports betting this past May.  Most offshore sportsbooks, some in business for 20 or more years now, are accessible from the Empire State.

Sportsbooks are expected to open as early as the 2019 NFL season in desigated locations within the state of New York.  It is not yet known if online sports betting will be permitted.  Those gambling with NY-based sites can expect to pay taxes as these books will report to the IRS.

The offshore books will look to compete by allowing those 18 years and up (NY-based books will require individuals to be at least 21), offering more competitive lines and bonuses, and they will not require customers to provide social security numbers (i.e. anonymity).  Payouts in many cases will be much faster via internationally-licensed sportsbooks.

Offshore books will also likely offer more in the way of Super Bowl prop bets.

Currently, Americas Bookie is expected to offer a few hundred prop wagers on this year's Super Bowl.
