Is It Legal to Bet the Super Bowl Online From the State of Texas?

Texas has not and will not be regulating online sports betting in our lifetime just as long as the Lonestar State maintains its deep rooted conservative anti-gambling stance.  This doesn't mean you can't access and bet on websites this Super Bowl weekend.  Sites like BetOnline welcome residents of Texas with a generous welcome bonus (max bonus $1000) and hundreds of prop bets, some you won't find at other betting sites.

In 2018, the US Supreme Court ruled to legalize sports betting nationwide.  States, however, would have to amend their own laws and overcome any obstacles that might be standing in the way.

California, like Texas, will have trouble regulating sports betting due to the powerful and protective tribal gaming industry that wants residents visiting brick and mortar casinos, not playing remotely from their living rooms.

With Texas, those in power simply shun gambling for all types of reasons.

There is a penal code that prohibits anyone from operating almost every form of gambling business from within the state, apart from - brace for it - dog racing.  Popular US-based horse racing sites do not even have a presence in the state (BetOnline has been able to capitalize dating back to 1999).

Why Many Texans Will Be Rooting for KC

Chiefs starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes became the 5th former Texas high school football player to win the NFL Super Bowl MVP last year.

He's the favorite to take the honor again in 2021 at Even odds.

Mahomes played high school football at Whitehouse and college football at Texas Tech.  He threw for 286 yards and 2 touchdowns while also running for a touchdown.  He led the Chiefs to a 31-20 comeback win over the San Francisco 49ers.

This year he'll be put to the ultimate test versus the man who has appeared in nine Super Bowls, Tom Brady.
