Is Bovada Legal to Bet on From California?

It is technically legal for Bovada to operate in California though they do not have a state license to do so. While Bovada is good, there are better options available, including BetAdrian with their welcome bonus of 150% what you open your account with)

In May 2018, the US Supreme Court overturned decades of sports betting prohibition and ushered in an era where folks across the country can now place sports wagers legally.

While it is indeed possible the powerful California tribes could opt to allow sports betting, they have zero plans to offer mobile outside the reservation.  Their rationale is that once folks can start betting from their own living rooms, there will be little incentive to come to the casino itself.

A more recent proposal calls for statewide mobile but with in-person registration that would force individuals to visit a casino at least once.  But just because the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians is for such legislation doesn't mean the other tribes are.  For the better part of ten years, the tribes could not agree on legalizing online poker.  The special interests, in particular PokerStars, ensured the fate of Web cardrooms in the state.

A tribal initiative that would legalize retail wagering only at Indian casinos and four racetracks has already qualified for the November 2022 ballot.

NFL Outlook for California Teams (Updated July 1, 2022)

LA Rams - The reigning Super Bowl champs had the 4th/5th shortest odds of winning the 2023 Super Bowl as of the spring with odds set at 11-1 (10-1 at some books).  These odds have remained steady through the last few months.

The Cleveland Browns traded cornerback Troy Hill to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a 2023 fifth-round pick at this year's NFL Draft.

They filled most of their top needs, selecting four defensive backs, two linemen, one running back and an edge rusher.

San Francisco 49ers - Considered serious contenders for Super Bowl 57, the 49ers selected Drake Jackson in this year's Draft.   The USC product was selected 61st overall.

Jackson is expected to have bonafide star power.  While only recording 12.5 sacks over his college career, USC just wasn't very good when he was there.

In his limited opportunities, Jackson performed admirably, recording a 22.0% pass-rush win rate, per PFF.

The 49ers odds of winning the 2023 Super Bowl were set at 16-1 coming into the new season.

LA Chargers - That other California team.  The Chargers odds of winning Super Bowl 57 were coming in at 16-1, which puts them right up among the top 10 contenders.   Their odds remain unchanged over the past two months.
