Houston Cougars Spread vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders (September 10)

This is one game where Houston could find itself an underdog this season.  Gambling 911 has a line of Cougars -1 early.  The early power ratings had Houston (46) at 75.27 and Texas Tech (61) 71.97 that gives us the -1 line with a Red Raiders home field advantage.

Houston vs. Texas Tech Betting Preview (September 10)

Houston was expected to have a strong defensive front and secondary but there are question marks regarding this year’s offense and its consistency.  QB Clayton Tune threw for over 300 yards in three of his final six games in the 2021 regular season.

The Cougars were favored to win OVER 9 regular season games and their schedule offered an opportunity to win every game.  Texas Tech was likely the biggest concern on this schedule.

The Red Raiders were coming in with 5.5 wins projected and a slight downturn entering 2022.

Joey McGuire was kicking off in 2022 with the Red Raiders hosting Murray State at Jones AT&T Stadium in Week 1.  This represented the 12th time in the past 16 seasons that the Red Raiders faced an FCS program in their home opener, going a perfect 11-0 during that stretch.

Beware here: If Texas Tech is a home underdog, history is NOT in their favor.  They are just 3-12-0 Straight Up as a home dog since 2017.  Houston on the money line, in particular, might be a good play here.
