Unless you are willing to pay the high price for the favorite or you believe the big +328 dog is going to come through and pay out $328 for every $100 bet, might we suggest wagering on the total.  It's moving to 10 at some books after opening at 9.5.  Most bets were on the UNDER early on, but with some of the sharpest books moving to 10, there's an indication they believe this one might go over that number.

Hot Trends (Totals)

We have only seen one of the last eight meetings go over 10, three of the last ten have.

Preview

PITCHING MATCHUP: Giants RH Jeff Samardzija (2019: 11-12, 3.52 ERA) vs. Dodgers LH Alex Wood (2019: 1-3, 5.80)

Giants manager Gabe Kapler declined to name a starting pitcher for Saturday, but Samardzija is expected to get the call after Kevin Gausman threw four innings on Thursday. The 35-year-old Samardzija is looking to build on a strong campaign last season, when he recorded a 140-to-49 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 32 starts covering 181 1/3 innings. Samardzija owns a 2-5 record and 3.83 ERA in 11 career games (nine starts) against the Dodgers.

After posting a 3.68 ERA over 151 2/3 innings in 2018, Wood encountered back problems and recorded a 5.80 ERA in seven starts with Cincinnati last season. The 29-year-old is making his return to the Dodgers after recording 31 victories with the team from 2015-18. Wood is 4-3 with a 3.90 ERA in 15 career games (nine starts) versus San Francisco.
