Duke had 85% of the spread backing as a -4 road favorite against Virginia Tech.  This one is coming off of -4.5 and moving to -3.5.  Because Virginia Tech is struggling to cover in recent games and Sagarin suggests a line of -5.5 favoring Duke, Gambling911.com is only giving the Hokies a 57% chance, enough though for a free pick on Virginia Tech +4.  This is due to the very strong opinion books have of a Virginia Tech cover.

The home team has won six of the last seven games in this series.  They have also won eight of the last ten.  Duke did win the two away games.  Virginia Tech has won the two most recent home games and two of the last four in the series.  The prior home game for the Hokies in this series did go into overtime.

The one thing we don't like about Virginia Tech is that, despite their national ranking among the top 25, the Hokies have had a tough time covering in recent games and Gambling911.com ranks them a 4 Against The Spread over their last ten games compared to Duke ranked a 6 (6-4 ATS over that span).  Virgina Tech is also hovering around the .500 mark Against The Spread.
