Florida - Florida nearly squandered a double-digit lead before finally stopping a Nevada comeback and pulling off a 70-61 upset in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Michigan - Charles  Matthews' double-double lead Michigan past the Grizzlies, 74-53.  He had 22 points and 10 rebounds.

Predictions

AthlonSports: "Florida entered the NCAA Tournament ranked 61st in offensive efficiency and 15th on defense. The problem is Michigan is much better on offense (18th) and second overall in defensive efficiency. To put it simple terms, the Wolverines are a much better team than Nevada.  While the Gators are capable of pulling off a second straight upset, I'm just not sure they can score enough points to do so."   Prediction: Michigan 70, Florida 60

Winners and Whiners: "The Wolverines stifling defense should be able to neutralize the Gators offense. Michigan allowed 20 or fewer points in five out of their last six games, and the Florida offense had an inconsistent season. They only managed 16 points against Kentucky, and 17 points against Missouri and Georgia, so I am confident Michigan’s vaunted defense can shut them down.

"Furthermore, Florida will give up yards on the ground. They are conceding an average of 166.7 rushing yards per game, and Michigan features a potent rushing offense that is averaging 214.3 yards per game, good for 25th in the country. Also, nine of the Wolverines ten wins on the season occurred by double-digits in points, and I anticipate a convincing win in this one."

Action vs. Line Movement

65% or more of the spread action was on the Gators.

Line

The line on this game was Michigan -6.5. Sagarin suggests a line of Wolverines -5.
