Our Observation
The line at most books heading into Friday was Toledo -7. Some books were at -6.5. On December 18, the line was -4.5 at many of the books. This one opened at -6. We can't figure out how this game is going to go for the life of us.
*Update: An hour before the kickoff time, the line had moved to Toledo -7 most books despite FIU seeing better than 60% of the action. This prompted us to give Toledo a 55% chance of covering here.
Predictions
Phil Steele of ESPN.com writes:
"Toledo has slight edges at running back, wide receiver and offensive line. FIU has slight edges at quarterback, linebacker and defensive back. FIU head coach Butch Davis has seen his team overachieve in each of the past two years, and he is 5-3 in bowl games. The Panthers were a perfect 3-0 ATS as an underdog this year. Add it all up, and these teams are close in talent, so I will go with the underdog here."
