Week 14 of the NFL season will kick off with a terrific matchup between NFC powers on Thursday Night Football. The Chicago Bears will host the Dallas Cowboys in what will be a near must-win scenario for each team. Both teams are coming off of a game on Thanksgiving Day, and this game will be played on normal rest despite being on Thursday Night Football. This is also a matchup of 2018 playoff teams, but each team has some work to do to make a return to the playoffs in 2019.

The Dallas Cowboys have lost two straight games, and three of their last four to fall to just 6-6 on the season. Dallas is in a tight battle with the Philadelphia Eagles for the top spot in the NFC East, but they must get things going soon. Chicago has gotten back to the .500 mark with two straight wins, but the Bears are well out of the playoff race. The Bears need to win their final four games of the season to have a chance. Dallas will be a -3.5 road favorite over Chicago on Thursday Night Football.

Cowboys Just Aren’t Scoring Touchdowns

The Dallas Cowboys have to the top passing offense in the NFL this season, and they also have the eighth best rushing attack. That should translate into one of the scoring teams in the league, but that has not been the case for the Cowboys. Dallas has really struggled trying to score points in the red zone, and they have combined to score just 24 points in their last two games. Quarterback Dak Prescott has thrown for over 3,000 yards this season, but his 11 interceptions have proved costly for Dallas.

The Cowboys have been great at times on defense, but they have also given up some big plays in some games. Dallas is allowing less than 20 points per game so far this season, and they will not be taking on a great offense in this one. Linebacker Jaylon Smith has recorded 112 tackles to lead the defense, and the Cowboys have some terrific pass rushers as well.

Bears Run Defense Will Be Tested

Defense has led the way for the Bears so far this season, but they are going to be tested in this game. Chicago has struggled to stop the run at times, and they will face one of the best running backs in Ezekiel Elliott. The Bears have just 16 takeaways so far this season, one year after leading the NFL in that category a season ago. Chicago’s defense will have to be strong to give their offense a chance in this game.

Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has not had a great season for the Bears, but he was terrific in the win on Thanksgiving. Trubisky threw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns in that game, and the Bears will need a repeat of that performance. Running the ball has been a major issue for the Bears this season, and they are averaging less than 80 rushing yards per game. Chicago will need to find some balance on offense to win this game.

Bears Pick Up Huge Home Win

Both the Bears and Cowboys have had disappointing seasons in 2019, and this is a must-win game for each team. Dallas needs this win to keep pace in the NFC East, and the Bears are clinging to playoff hope. The Cowboys have just been unable to score points in the red zone this season, and that won’t improve in this game. Chicago still has one of the best defensive units in the NFL, and they are going to get the job done in this game. Look for Mitchell Trubisky and the Bears offense to score just enough points to pull off this upset. Take the +3.5 points and bet the Chicago Bears over the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football.  Take te Bears at our favorite pay per head bookie site A1PPH.
