College football’s four semi-finalists will be announced by the College Football Selection Committee in three weeks and experts have a lot to work with in terms of predictions given that Week 9’s top four teams won convincingly last week.

One conference has possibly seen its chances disappear, though. Baylor already made Oklahoma’s playoff goals obsolete and a number of programs have benefitted from the Sooners’ failure. There’s one less Power Five champion to deal with when thinking of Cincinnati and Oregon but the Bearcats and the Ducks have huge matchups on the weekend, as does Alabama.

These matchups will provide an interesting panorama for college sports bettors, ahead of week 12, and the betting odds being offered by the top online sportsbooks. To their benefit there are plenty of major games taking place.

Michigan State will be playing Ohio State at the latter’s home in a matchup that could determine who captures the Big Ten East, as well as heavily influence the CFP. Betting odds of Michigan State currently at +19½ -110, while Ohio looking at -18 ½ -110.

The NCAAF picks will be alight as Cincinnati plays host to SMU in a game that promises to be a high-scoring affair. SMU looking at betting odds of +11 ½ -110, while Cincinati currently at -10½ -105, showing who would be coming as favorites for this fixture.

Utah (-3 –110) will host Oregon (+3½ -122) in a potential Pac-12 title game preview while Arkansas (+21½ -128) will visit Alabama (-19½ -108), with the latter needing a win to claim the SEC West.

That said, we take a look at the upcoming four pertinent contests.

No.7 Michigan State at No.5 Ohio State

The Buckeyes have posted 624 yards at nine per play following consecutive poor efforts. They shellacked the Boilermakers in Columbus for a 59-31 result, with CJ Stroud throwing five touchdown passes and 361 yards.

They gave 481 yards up to Purdue but, as long as they’re moving the ball downfield, nothing else really matters. They’ve opened as the 19.5-point favorites vs. Michigan State in what could be a Big Ten East decider when it comes to the championship.

The Spartans, meanwhile, have done well to prepare for their game against Ohio State. They beat Maryland pretty convincingly, racking up 481 yards with unstoppable passing. They’re 6-14 against Ohio State when both programs are ranked but have a 3-1 record when they’re in the top 10.

Iowa State at No.12 Oklahoma

Playoff football is nearly out of the question for the Sooners but they need a win to reach the Big 12 Championship game. Oklahoma struggled to move the ball in their 27-14 loss to the Bears last week, a rare sight indeed. They turned the ball over twice, went 2-for-9 on third downs, and committed nine penalties as their unbeaten record was shattered in a surprising reverse.

The bookmakers have them opening as a 6.5-point favorite against Iowa State as they’re backed to return to winning ways.

As for the Cyclones, their inconsistency makes it hard to predict how much we’re going to see from them. They’re a team that can go from beating Oklahoma State and running it close with Baylor to losing to West Virginia and Virginia Tech. They lost to Texas Tech on a 62-yard field goal with time expiring.

While they do deserve some credit for fighting back from a three-touchdown deficit, they shouldn’t have been there in the first place.

No. 13 Wake Forest at Clemson

Wake Forest dusted themselves off after a first loss of the season, getting back to winning ways immediately with a 45-42 win over NC State at home last week. Sam Hartman bossed things on the offensive end with four touchdowns; the defense would force three turnovers and hold the opposition to third down conversions from 14 attempts. They have control over their destiny in the ACC Atlantic and a win in either of their last two games will see them clinch the division.

Their first opportunity to do so comes against Clemson, who they’re facing as 3.5-point underdogs The Tigers are coming off a win against UConn, which is not all that impressive considering D.J. Uiagalelei made 21 of 44 pass attempts with 241 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

Clemson won’t be playing in the ACC Championship Game for the first time since 2014, having impressed very little on offense in a weak ACC. While their defense could trouble Wake Forest, there’s little hope their offense could do the same.

No. 21 Arkansas at No. 2 Alabama

Alabama will be returning to the SEC and can possibly clinch the division this week. However, it will still not be considered successful given head coach Nick Saban’s high standards. Anything short of the playoffs will be disappointing. The Crimson Tide have their destiny in their hands and can retain control at home against Arkansas, having opened as the 20.5-point faves.

Arkansas managed to win at LSU last week despite going 3-for-16 on third downs, posting 283 yards, and committing nine penalties. Their defense held LSU to 308 yards and they forced three turnovers as well. They’ve shown some real mettle over the last few games yet rely heavily on the run and are going up against a team that boasts one of the best run defenses in the NCAA.
