Why the Chargers Are Expected to Cover Spread Against Steelers Sunday Night Football

The books do have a solid opinion on the Chargers ability to cover here by +3 as Pittsburgh continued to see 63% of the action on the spread.  There will be heavy volume on this game.

Books had been holding this one at -3.5 up until late Saturday.

At some books the Steelers were the most wagered on side already by the early morning hours despite all the money pouring in on the 1 pm EST games.

We have not seen any of the books move to -4.  This one has stayed tight between -3.5 and -3.

Sagarin does indicate the line is correct at somewhere in the middle of -3 to -3.5.

Just a word of caution here as LA will be without their top running back, Melvin Gordon.  He could return as early as next week against the Cincinnati Bengals or the following Thursday night game against the Kansas City Chiefs, sources told ESPN.

From ESPN.com:

The absence of Gordon might require Rivers to be a bigger part of the offense. He was spectacular in last weekend's 45-10 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, when he set two NFL records -- one for completing his first 25 pass attempts of the game and the other for the highest completion percentage in a contest, connecting on 28 of his 29 passes.

He ranks third in the NFL in passer rating and has 26 touchdown passes against six interceptions.
