Can I Play on PokerStars From North Carolina?

PokerStars forbids those from North Carolina from playing for real money on their website.  Alternatives include Americas Cardroom, available to play for real money in all 50 states.

According to North Carolina law, the only legal poker venues are those located on Tribal reservations.

Online poker sites claim that, because they are licensed and legal in the jurisdictions where they are based, this is the location where individuals are actually playing poker online, not North Carolina.

Americas Cardroom is one of the few sites that has long served the U.S. market and is currently offering a $6 million guaranteed online tournament with a $5 million first place prize.  Americas Cardroom tends to rank as the 8th largest online poker site in the world.  It also offers a sportsbook and online casino.
