Will the FanDuel Sports Betting App Be Available to Those in California?
Not any time soon. The tribal compacts have their own agendas and there has been fighting between them with unsuccessful efforts to allow online poker in the state over the past decade.
Disadvantages to Using the FanDuel Sports Betting App
Even as a California resident, you can still place real money bets on the FanDuel app, but only when visiting a handful of states including New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Around half the US states now offer the FanDuel app.
If you happen to be in Las Vegas for the Super Bowl to watch your beloved San Francisco 49ers take on the Kansas City Chiefs, FanDuel will NOT be available. That's because FanDuel and DraftKings do not have a presence in the Silver State. One of the reasons, aside from the competition, is the difficulty in joining. While mobile sports betting is legal in Nevada, new customers must register in-person at a casino. FanDuel and DraftKings do not have a casino presence here with the exception of Freemont retail for FanDuel.
The FanDuel sports betting app went live in New Jersey during the last days of August 2018, and that trend continued across the country to help propel FanDuel as the most downloaded sports betting app in the US, followed by DraftKings.
If traveling to a state where FanDuel is available, be sure to set up your FanDuel account prior to arriving in that state. You will only be able to place bets when physically located within that state. Payouts may take longer to receive when compared to a sportsbook like BetUS, which will sometimes pay within a matter of hours depending on the funding method (Bitcoin being the best).
FanDuel and its state-based counterparts require users to be at least 21 in order to place a bet with few exceptions. BetUS allows those 18 and up to bet.
BetUS offers betting on games that feature all California teams as well as the NFL Draft and political/entertainment prop bets. They also feature a live dealer online casino and full race book or the horses.
